What do we bring to the table?

Deliciously filled panini – vegetarian and/or with meat –, antipasti platters, bruschette, biodynamic wines, Italian cocktails and sweet dishes.

In our venue in Vienna’s 2nd district we also have a compact »alimentari« (Italian for grocery store) with high-quality products from small, independent Italian producers.

Many producers with whom we cooperate are part of the »Slow Food Movement«. The concept originated in Italy as a counter-movement to fast food. Regional producers are supported – no factory farming and genetic engineering. The food should taste outstanding, be produced ecologically and sustainably, and fetch a fair price.

Bruschetta is an Italian tradition that’s very simply but – with the right toppings – simply amazing. Try your way through our selection and experience new flavours – here we have, for example, »Mortazza« and »Carciofo«.

Bruschetta »Mortazza« consists of a soft cheese called »Stracchino« and mortadella from Tuscany refined with pistachios.

Artichoke cream topped with »Pecorino«, a hard cheese from Sardinia, are part of the Bruschetta »Carciofo«.

We serve a variety of Italian cocktails – the specialty of the house: »Negroni Sbagliato«.

In 1972, Mirko Stocchetto accidentally poured »spumante« instead of gin into a Negroni at the Basso bar in Milan – a small mishap turned into a cocktail classic called »Negroni Sbagliato«. The Italian word »sbagliato« actually means »wrong«. It’s a drink for anyone who likes it a little fizzier but still doesn’t want to miss out on the classic intense taste of a Negroni.

MONTE OFELIO BAR – »Aperitivo Italiano« in Vienna. Aperitivo comes from the Latin word »aperire« which means »to open«. This captures what it’s all about: coming together, meeting new people, having good conversations, enjoying drinks and small snacks. And that’s what we’re known for – authentic flair, comfortable atmosphere, great moments and good taste.

MONTE O FORNO is the production facility for sweet dishes, which are available in our two aperitivo bars. There we make our cakes from scratch, e. g. our »torta caprese« – a delicious chocolate cake without flour – or our »chiffon cake« with a sugary glaze with lemons from the Amalfi Coast. Perfect for an Italian breakfast? Our freshly prepared »cornetti« and »code d’aragosta«.
